MoonPay now lets people create a Bitcoin and crypto purchase link inside ChatGPT. The payment still happens on a regular checkout page, so check it before paying.
MoonPay, a crypto company, launched an app inside ChatGPT on May 23 that creates a link for buying cryptocurrency without leaving the chat. The link leads to a standard checkout, and that is where the payment actually happens.
ChatGPT has an app store, and MoonPay joins Kraken, OKX, CryptoAudit and RealOpen as crypto-related apps there. Most of the others answer questions about prices and blockchain data, which is the public record of crypto transactions. MoonPay's app is built for actual purchases.
MoonPay product lead Kevin Arifin told Decrypt he was surprised nobody had built a way to buy crypto inside ChatGPT. He compared it to a broker nearby who explains an asset without making financial recommendations. He said the longer-term goal is for AI models to take more direct actions, not just hand over checkout links.
The material does not say what fees MoonPay charges, which countries can use the app, which payment methods work, or which coins can be bought. Those details matter before any money moves.
A chat can create the purchase link, but you still pay at a standard checkout, so check the price and the page before you pay.
