Thinkware has launched its ARC 800 dash cam in Australia. It costs AU$849.99 and has been on sale since October 29, 2026, at Autobarn and Supercheap Auto. The price does not include installation. For a limited time, buyers who register the camera can get a free module that lets them check on the car remotely.

What it does

The ARC 800 has two cameras. The front one records in 4K, which is very sharp video. The rear one records in Full HD. The front lens covers 146 degrees and the rear lens covers 125 degrees, so the cameras capture a wide view around the car. Both support Dual HDR, which helps video look clearer in bright and dark scenes.

Parking protection

Parking mode is the headline feature. The camera can record incidents while the car is parked and turned off. This only works if the camera is hardwired with the Thinkware cable or a compatible OBD-II power cable. OBD-II is a standard port in many cars that can supply power.

The ARC 800 is also the first in the ARC series to add AI Night Vision. It uses AI image processing to pick up detail in low light while the car is parked.

The free LTE module

Remote monitoring needs Thinkware's LTE module, which gives the camera a mobile connection. Australian customers can register the ARC 800 at Thinkware.com.au to receive one free. The offer is for eligible customers and for a limited time.

Other features

  • Built-in GPS
  • Driver assistance alerts and safety camera alerts
  • 2.3-inch touchscreen
  • Easy Wi-Fi pairing with a phone
  • USB-C data transfer

Who it is for

Thinkware is aiming the ARC 800 at drivers who want top image quality and strong protection. That could include anyone who parks on the street, where a bump can happen with no one around. It is a premium product, so a simpler camera may be enough for others.

What is not clear

The material does not say how long the free LTE offer lasts or what installation costs. Those costs matter, because parking mode needs the camera wired in. It also does not say what counts as an eligible customer.

The takeaway

The ARC 800 costs AU$849.99 before installation, and parking mode needs hardwiring, so budget for both before you buy.
