Samsung's Galaxy Ring is $75 off after a small update

Samsung's Galaxy Ring, a smart ring that tracks health and fitness, is $75 off at Amazon, which brings it to $324.99. A small software update for the ring also arrived this week.

What changed

The update is only 0.68MB. It is version Q50XWWU2AZIA and reached South Korean customers this week, according to SamMobile. Samsung does not say what is inside. The listed change is "stability," which almost certainly means bug fixes. Samsung has sent several updates this size since the ring launched two years ago. Whether it has reached other countries was not stated.

Price and what comes next

The Galaxy Ring has no monthly fee for health data. Oura's latest ring costs $499 and needs a $6.99 monthly subscription, about $170 over two years. Used Galaxy Rings on Amazon start as low as $200 and come with free returns if something is wrong.

• The ring is made of titanium and has week-long battery life.
• A charging case works like an earbud case.
• Sleep apnea detection is expected in the next big update.
• A Galaxy Ring 2 is expected early next year, likely at a higher price.

How long the sale lasts was not stated.
