Apple's iOS 27.2 update changes how Podcasts shows new and unfinished episodes, and brings upgraded Siri features to CarPlay.
iOS 27.2 is out this week, and it gives CarPlay users two upgrades. Finding podcasts is quicker, and the more capable Siri AI assistant now helps in the car too. CarPlay is Apple's system for using your iPhone on your car's screen.
Apple Podcasts has two new rows on its Home tab: New Episodes and Continue Playing. New Episodes holds only the latest episodes from your favorite shows. Once you start an episode, it moves to Continue Playing, just below, so you can pick up where you left off. Apple has essentially rethought how its Up Next queue works. The 9to5Mac writer says he is a big fan of the change.
The second improvement is Siri AI. iOS 27.2 brings a variety of upgrades to it, and two of them carry over to CarPlay. The article does not say which two. It notes that it can take some adjustment to remember Siri AI works in the car just like on iPhone.
Apple Music also gets a new app icon and a few minor design tweaks. These tie to the full rebrand Apple Music unveiled last week. Whether that counts as an improvement is arguable. The update also adds new features for Messages and Apple TV.
If you use CarPlay, update to iOS 27.2 to get the new podcast rows and Siri AI upgrades in the car.
