Google has released a new software update for its Nest Wifi router and the extra Wifi point that goes with it. The update rolled out last week, according to 9to5Google, and it is the second one this year. The first came in April.

What changed

The Nest Wifi router is now on software version 14150.883.1264. The Nest Wifi point, the add-on unit that extends coverage, is on version 1.56.539812. Google's changelog is dated October 20, 2026, and says the update includes two improvements.

The material available does not say what those two improvements are. It also does not say whether they fix a security problem or change how the devices perform. The Nest Wifi Pro is a separate model. Its last notable update came in March.

What to do

Most people need to do nothing. Google Wifi and Nest Wifi devices update automatically overnight. If you want to confirm, you can check the version yourself in the Google Home app:

  • Open the Google Home app and go to the "All devices" tab at the top.
  • Select your Nest Wifi router and tap the settings gear icon.
  • Look under "Wi-Fi information" for "Software information".

Compare the number you see with the router version listed above.

The takeaway

Nest Wifi updates itself overnight, but you can confirm the new version in the Google Home app under Software information.
