Gemini can now run your daily chores on a schedule

Gemini's Scheduled actions run a prompt on a timetable and leave the answer waiting, which could cut the daily habit of asking the same questions.

Google's Gemini assistant can now run a saved request on a schedule, so the answer is ready before you ask. The feature is called Scheduled actions. Android Police writer Anu Joy tested it for daily routines and found it took the stress out of planning.

What it does

Instead of opening Gemini and typing the same question every day or week, you write the prompt once. You pick how often it runs. Gemini then does the work and has the result waiting for you.

How to set one up

Setup happens on the Gemini website. The steps are short.

  • Go to Gemini and click Scheduled in the left sidebar.
  • Click the pencil icon beside Describe a task to open the form.
  • Enter a name, describe the job in the Plan field, and choose how often it runs.
  • Click Create to save it.

Gemini also offers suggested schedules, such as a news digest or tracking financial trends. You can return to the Scheduled page later to review or change anything.

Ideas that work

The first idea is a nightly plan for tomorrow. Set to run each evening, it reviews your calendar, important unread emails and to-do list. It highlights deadlines and suggests three priorities for the day.

The second is a news digest. A prompt can ask for the five most important developments in topics you follow, with a short reason each matters and links to sources. When it is ready, Gemini marks the scheduled conversation as unread and sends a notification on mobile.

Other uses include a lesson plan for learning a new subject, one concept at a time, ending with three quiz questions. Another is a weekly roundup of local events, such as affordable, beginner-friendly ones that match your interests.

Limits to know

Calendar and email summaries only work if Google Workspace is connected. You do that under Settings, then Personalization, then Connected Apps.

Scheduled answers are prepared ahead of time. That makes them good for staying informed, but weaker for following breaking news as it happens.

The article does not say which Gemini plans or countries get the feature, or how many schedules you can create.

What to do

Look at the checks you repeat each day, such as a morning agenda or a news scan. One of those is a good first schedule. The prompt can be edited as your routine changes.

The takeaway

If you ask Gemini the same question every day, save it as a scheduled action and let the answer come to you.
