ChatGPT can now connect to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar. OpenAI added the feature on October 27, 2026, on the ChatGPT website, the desktop app and the iPhone app. It is listed in OpenAI's release notes and is available on all ChatGPT plans, free included. Until now, Gmail users had the inbox tricks while iPhone and Mac users waited.
What changed
OpenAI calls these add-ons plugins or connectors. A connector is a bridge that lets ChatGPT reach into another service you use, so you can work with it from a chat window. An example is asking what is on your calendar tomorrow. This is not a new AI model. It is a new feature in the ChatGPT you already have.
Who gets it
The mail connector only works with Apple-hosted addresses, per MacRumors. Gmail or work accounts shown inside Apple Mail are not covered.
- Works: addresses ending in @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com.
- Does not work: Gmail or other accounts that you only view in Apple Mail.
- Gmail users: ChatGPT has a separate Gmail and Google Calendar connector, which Cult of Mac reports came earlier.
The web version works on any modern browser, so start there if you are unsure. OpenAI lists a desktop app but does not say whether that means Mac, Windows or both. Android is not mentioned, so its status is unknown.
Setting it up
You need an Apple app-specific password. This is a separate code that lets ChatGPT in without ever seeing your main Apple ID password. The exact menu name was not confirmed. Look in ChatGPT's Settings for the section that lists third-party services.
Engadget reports that OpenAI's separate Dot agent can also use these connectors, but only on the Pro plan. That is not in OpenAI's release notes, so treat it as reported, not official.
What to watch out for
The coverage does not explain how OpenAI handles or stores the mail and calendar data it reads. That matters. An inbox can hold bank alerts, medical reminders and password reset links. Read OpenAI's own documentation on connectors and data use before you connect.
If you create an app-specific password, keep it in a password manager. You can also make a new one anytime, so you do not need to save it.
The takeawayBefore linking iCloud to ChatGPT, read OpenAI's data-use pages, since your inbox holds sensitive mail and the coverage does not explain how it is handled.
