Two health providers, one in Texas and one in South Carolina, have settled class action lawsuits over data breaches. If you got a breach notice from Vida Y Salud-Health Systems or Hampton Regional Medical Center, you may be able to claim free credit monitoring and a cash payment. Claim deadlines fall in January 2027.

Vida Y Salud in Texas

Vida Y Salud-Health Systems is a nonprofit community health center in Crystal City, Texas. An unauthorized person got into its network on October 7 and 8, 2025. The breach exposed information on 35,236 people. Files may have held names, Social Security numbers, credit card or bank account numbers, claims information, and diagnosis or condition details.

The company denies any wrongdoing. Plaintiffs say it failed to put proper cybersecurity in place. Under the settlement, members can claim two years of credit monitoring plus one of two payments:

  • Up to $3,500 for documented losses that were not reimbursed, plus up to four hours of lost time at $20 per hour
  • A flat $50 cash payment if no loss or lost time claim is filed

Total claims are capped at $500,000. If claims add up to more, each payment is cut by the same share.

Hampton Regional in South Carolina

Hampton Regional Medical Center is a nonprofit community hospital in Varnville, South Carolina. Hackers were in its network from June 18 to July 16, 2025. Data that may have been taken includes names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, demographic details and medical information. Letters began going out on September 12, 2025.

The hospital agreed to pay $250,000 and also denies wrongdoing. The court has given preliminary approval. Members can claim documented losses up to $5,000, or a cash payment estimated at $20 each. Everyone also gets one year of single-bureau credit monitoring, which watches your file at one credit reporting company.

Key dates

  • Hampton: opt out or object by December 24, 2026; claim by January 11, 2027
  • Vida Y Salud: opt out or object by January 4, 2027; claim by January 18, 2027
  • Final approval hearings: January 25, 2027 for Hampton, February 2, 2027 for Vida Y Salud

What to do

Find your breach notice and check which provider sent it. Keep records of any money lost or time spent dealing with the breach, since the larger payments require documentation. Opting out means leaving the settlement, so do that only on purpose. The article does not list claim websites, so use the details in your settlement notice.

What happens next

Each court still has to hold a final fairness hearing, where a judge decides whether to approve the deal. Payment timing has not been reported. The Hampton payment of $20 is only an estimate and could change.

The takeaway

If a Vida Y Salud or Hampton Regional breach notice reached you, file a claim by January 11 or January 18, 2027, and keep records of any losses.
