T-Mobile has launched T-Mix, a way to build your own set of perks into your phone plan. Instead of getting a fixed bundle, you choose from a menu of services. The perks are included in the plan price, with no extra payments. The catch is that T-Mix works only on the new plans introduced this week.

What changed

T-Mix runs on something T-Mobile calls Picks. Each Pick is one perk you select. The new plans are called Standard, More and Loaded. Standard comes with one Pick, More with two, and Loaded with three. T-Mobile also says each line gets access to more Picks. The plans are also open to people 55 and older, military and veterans, first responders and college students.

What you can pick

The menu covers streaming, music, gaming, food delivery, sports, AI and wireless benefits. Some services are returning and some are new.

  • Returning: Apple TV, DashPass by DoorDash, Hulu, Netflix, Pandora and SiriusXM
  • New: Apple Music, ESPN Unlimited, Delta SkyMiles, Google Gemini, Paramount+, Xbox Game Pass and YouTube Premium
  • Wireless: T-Satellite, Optimized Video Calls and device promotions

Picks can even go toward a new phone, which T-Mobile calls getting one on Us. You can choose when, and on which line, to use a Pick for that. T-Mobile says more providers could be added over time.

You can change your mind

You are not locked in. T-Mobile says customers can swap their Picks four times a year, through three change windows plus an Annual Remix window. The monthly plan price stays the same.

Who it affects

Anyone shopping for a plan now, and anyone on an older one, will see these options. The context matters. T-Mobile recently retired its legacy plans and required those customers to move to newer, more expensive options, even after years earlier promising price locks. Many customers were unhappy about that. Android Police notes that, so far, customers do not seem to be seeing the benefits of T-Mix.

What is not known yet

The material does not list prices for Standard, More or Loaded. It also does not say exactly how many Picks each line gets on each plan. Those details decide whether T-Mix is a good deal, so check them before you switch.

The takeaway

Before moving to a T-Mix plan, count the perks you would really use and compare their value with the plan's price.
