Stripe now lets AI assistants read your Stripe sales data and answer questions about it. Compatible assistants such as Claude and Cursor can connect to your analytics, and you ask in everyday language. Stripe says you could request an investor slide deck on where your business did best last quarter, or a dashboard explaining why your revenue changed.
What changed
Stripe offers two ways in. One is Stripe's MCP, a connection that lets an assistant reach your Stripe data. The other is the Queries API and Reports API, which let software talk to Stripe directly. Stripe says both are available to all Stripe users.
For the assistant to give good answers, it must know where your data lives and how Stripe defines its numbers. Stripe says its Reports API holds a modeled data layout of more than 300 tables, plus built-in guidance on how to use them.
What it can do
Stripe gives a subscription example. The assistant can track monthly recurring revenue over time and tie changes to upgrades, downgrades and customers who left.
The assistant can also mix Stripe data with other tools. In Claude, Stripe describes combining website activity from a PostHog connector, subscription data from Stripe and notes from earlier conversations. The goal is to find customers who clicked a button but later cancelled.
Checking the numbers
Stripe notes that this kind of analysis often feeds big decisions and investor reports, so results need to be verifiable. For each analysis run through its APIs, you can look at the underlying SQL. That is the database question the tool asked. You can confirm how the result was calculated and edit it as your needs change.
What it costs
- The Queries API is free for all Stripe users through January 31, 2027.
- After that, you pay per credit of API usage, with no monthly subscription.
- The Reports API will remain free.
Stripe's material does not say what a credit costs, so the price after January is not yet known.
How to start
If you already use the Stripe MCP, you can prompt your assistant directly. If you are new to it, Stripe says to open your assistant and type: "Pull my Stripe data in." Teams that want to build their own workflow can use the Queries API or Reports API directly.
For anyone who takes payments through Stripe, this could cut the time spent on reports and investor updates. Treat the first results as drafts. Open the SQL and check the logic before any number goes to a bank, an investor or an accountant.
The takeawayIf you use Stripe, try the free tools before January 31, 2027, and check the SQL behind any number before you share it.
