Samsung's next top-end phone may finally get a bigger battery. Records from South Korea and China point to the Galaxy S27 Ultra getting a larger cell than the S26 Ultra, the first such jump in years. A new model called the S27 Pro also shows up.

What the records show

Korea's Safety Korea database lists two batteries, made by Zhuhai CosMX Power Jinwan. Its photos do not reveal their size. China's 3C certification does: 5,534 mAh for the S27 Ultra and 5,087 mAh for the S27 Pro. The mAh number is a measure of battery size. Bigger means more room for power.

Those are rated capacities, the minimum Samsung guarantees. The figure on a spec sheet is usually a bit higher. For the Pro and Ultra, it is believed to be 5,200 mAh and 5,700 mAh.

What is still unknown

  • The records are based on pre-production samples, so retail phones could differ.
  • Pricing has not surfaced, and Samsung raised Galaxy S26 prices mid-cycle.
  • Faster 25W wireless charging with Qi2 is rumored but unconfirmed.

If the numbers hold, the Ultra's battery is about 14% larger than last year's. Paired with a more efficient chip, that could mean noticeably longer use between charges. Wired charging looks unchanged at 60W, the same as the S26 Ultra. Earlier rumors of a 7,000 mAh battery now look unlikely.

The phones are expected in the first quarter of 2027, most likely January or February.

The takeaway

If you plan to upgrade, the S27 Ultra may last longer per charge, but wait for final specs and a price before deciding.
