Samsung may release six folding phones in 2027, according to a rumor. That would be its biggest folding lineup ever. One of them, the Galaxy Z Slide, is a name nobody had heard before. It is only a rumor, and Samsung has said nothing.

What is being claimed

The claim comes from a user called TheGalox on X, in a post dated October 14, 2026. The post says the 2027 lineup will bring battery, thickness and weight improvements across the board. The rumored phones are:

  • Galaxy Z TriFold 2, said to launch first
  • Galaxy Z Slide
  • Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 9 Pro
  • Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Flip 9

The odd parts

Tom's Guide points to two surprises. The Z Flip 9 was earlier rumored to have been canceled, so its place on this list is a mixed signal. The Z Fold 9 Pro is also new to everyone, and it is unclear what role it would play.

There is also a risk of confusion. Tom's Guide notes there is not much difference between the Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra. More models that look alike could make buying harder, not easier.

What the Z Slide could be

Nothing is known about the Z Slide. Tom's Guide guesses it is a phone with a screen that stretches out. Samsung showed such concepts at CES 2025, a big tech show. One grew from 8.1 inches to 12.4 inches. Another grew from 8 inches to 17 inches. A third grew taller, from 5.1 inches to 6.7 inches.

Which design, if any, becomes a real product is unknown. A phone-sized version may depend on whether Samsung can build small stretching screens in large numbers. A bigger screen might be easier and cheaper to make.

The TriFold problem

A TriFold 2 is not a big surprise, since earlier rumors pointed to one. Getting one could be hard. The first TriFold was sold in limited numbers, and Samsung stopped making it in March.

What happens next

It is very early, and there is no way to judge how accurate the list is. For anyone thinking about a folding phone, waiting could bring more choices. More details should surface in the coming months.

The takeaway

Treat the six-phone list as a rumor, and if you want a folding phone, waiting may give you more choices but also more models that look alike.
