QVC is mixing fast TikTok pitches with its classic TV demos for the holidays, and small sellers can borrow the playbook for live selling.

QVC, the TV shopping company that launched in 1986, is heading into its 40th holiday season with a big push on TikTok. It streams there about 200 hours a week, using phone-filmed sets and hosts who are separate from its TV team. The company is trying to get back to growth after a rough stretch.

Two styles of selling

On TV, QVC still does about 60,000 hours of live shows a year. A product segment there runs seven to eight minutes. On TikTok, the pitch is a hook and a sell of 20 to 30 seconds.

The gear differs too. TV studios use a full robotics team to run the cameras. QVC has 10 studios built for TikTok, and the crews film with a phone. Sets are smaller versions of the TV ones, such as a closet-style fashion set and a homey set with a fireplace.

What stays the same

Krystyna Taheri, QVC Group's senior vice president of social commerce, says the core ideas carry over. Those are building trust with the viewer, having a relationship with them, showing the product at work and telling a story.

TikTok hosts get training. They go live, make short videos and review their own tapes each week with a producer. They also learn to watch two numbers while live: how many viewers click, and how many of those clicks turn into orders. The idea is to focus on engagement first, because sales follow.

The holiday plan

  • Gifts from Le Creuset, KitchenAid, Laura Mercier and Nespresso
  • QVC-only launches from Off/Duty by Coco Rocha and RM Studio by Rebecca Minkoff
  • A "Nonstop Holiday Party" on Nov. 6-8 with early Black Friday sales
  • Guests Martha Stewart, John Legend and Teri Hatcher
  • Danielle Fishel of "Boy Meets World" as Mrs. Claus in a campaign

Why QVC needs a strong season

QVC Group, the parent of QVC and HSN, has faced fewer cable viewers, tariffs and more competition. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April and emerged in August, with more than $5 billion less debt. Revenue for the three months ending June 30 was $1.765 billion, down from $1.984 billion a year earlier.

TikTok is one bright spot. QVC and HSN gained nearly 1 million new US customers on TikTok Shop in 2025. QVC started streaming there around the clock in April 2025 and also works with hundreds of thousands of creators.

Who is buying

Taheri says TikTok shoppers are not as different as expected. They skew older than the typical TikTok buyer but younger than QVC's core TV audience. Across both, buyers are mostly women.

The lesson for sellers

Short, fast hooks win attention on TikTok. Trust and clear demos are what turn that attention into orders. QVC also lets hosts test ideas live, treating a four-hour show as an instant focus group.

The takeaway

Live selling works best when a quick hook gets attention and a clear demo builds trust, and QVC tracks clicks and orders, not just sales.
