PNC Bank is adding payroll to its online banking for small businesses. ADP, a large payroll company, said in a press release on Wednesday, Oct. 28, that the two companies have partnered. The new service is called PNC Payroll by ADP. Owners would handle payroll, HR, banking and payments in one place.
What changed
ADP's payroll and HR tools will sit inside PNC's digital banking platform. This is called embedded software, meaning a tool is built into an app people already use. The service covers payroll, HR, time tracking, insurance and retirement plans.
- Digital self-service tools for everyday payroll tasks
- Access to live ADP payroll experts, available 24/7
- One experience for payroll, HR, banking and payments
ADP's Matt Farwell said the goal is to give owners an alternative to juggling disconnected systems. ADP says it supports 1.1 million clients in more than 140 countries. It calls this the latest expansion of its embedded payroll offerings.
What is not known yet
The material does not say when PNC Payroll by ADP will be available or what it will cost. It also does not say whether current ADP customers can connect their accounts, or whether every PNC small business client will qualify. Owners who bank with PNC and want to try it should ask their PNC contact for those details.
The takeawayPNC small business clients may soon run payroll from their bank login, but price and launch timing have not been shared yet.
