Crypto exchange OKX has launched a card that lets people spend stablecoins at checkout in most US states. The OKX Card, powered by Mastercard, is a virtual card, so there is no plastic. OKX announced the US launch in a press release on Monday, Nov. 2. It is open to eligible customers in most states and select US territories.

What it does

Stablecoins are a type of crypto meant to hold a steady value. The card works with three of them: USDC, USDT and USDG. You hold them in an OKX Pay wallet. Purchases are backed by those balances, and the card works anywhere Mastercard is accepted. According to OKX, you do not have to convert to regular money first or move funds into a separate balance.

After you activate the card in the OKX app, you can add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay. That lets you tap to pay with your phone.

Fees and extras

  • OKX says there are no transaction fees and no foreign exchange fees.
  • Autopay lets you earn cashback on eligible USDG purchases.
  • USDG held on OKX Pay can earn yield between purchases.

Yield here means a return paid on money you leave in the wallet. The release does not say, in the material available, what the cashback or yield rates are.

Who it is for

The card is aimed at people who already hold stablecoins and want to use them for everyday purchases. OKX put it this way: what has been missing is a straightforward way to put stablecoins to work on everyday purchases without extra conversion steps.

What is not clear yet

The release says only that the card is in most states and select territories. The material does not list which ones. It also does not spell out eligibility rules, spending limits or any fees beyond those named. Anyone interested should read the terms in the OKX app. The tax effect of spending crypto is also worth checking before you start.

Background

The US is not the first market. OKX launched the card in the European Economic Area in January. It followed in July with selected countries in South Asia and Africa. Mastercard announced its partnership with OKX in April 2025.

In August, OKX said adoption in Europe had picked up sharply, even as bitcoin was down from earlier in the year. Erald Ghoos, CEO of OKX Europe, said that suggests customers use the card for everyday needs, not only when crypto prices rise.

The takeaway

If you hold stablecoins, this card lets you spend them directly, but read the terms and check the tax impact before you use it.
