INMO has announced the GO3, a pair of smart glasses with a small display for each eye, built-in AI help from Google's Gemini, and a physical shade that covers the camera. The goal is to let you do more without pulling out your phone. 9to5Google reported the details.
What it does
Each eye gets a MicroLED display, a tiny and bright screen type. They reach up to 1,500 nits, a measure of screen brightness, and have a 30-degree field of view. Because text appears in your line of sight, you can read it without breaking off a conversation to check your phone.
- Real-time translation across 98 languages, with 13 working fully offline
- Meeting notes, with summaries on the glasses coming soon
- A teleprompter and turn-by-turn navigation
- An AI assistant that answers questions and recognizes images from the camera
INMO says its assistant is powered by both Google's Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT. For translation, the glasses pick up what the person in front of you says and show the translation in your view.
Weight, looks and battery
The GO3 weigh 58 grams. That is just a bit more than Meta's Ray-Ban glasses without a display. The temples, the arms that rest over your ears, are 8mm thick, so the glasses are meant to look like normal ones.
The battery is swappable. When one runs low, you pop in a fresh power pack and keep wearing the glasses. The included charging case can still top up a battery, but swapping is faster.
The camera privacy cover
Cameras on glasses make many people uneasy, including the people around the wearer. INMO's answer is a physical shade that covers the lens. It gives a visible sign that the camera is not in use. A cover you can see is easier to trust than a software setting you cannot.
Optional extras
INMO also offers add-ons. A speaker can voice your replies in the other person's language using an AI clone of your voice. A ring controller lets you use the software without touching the glasses. A sunglasses cover helps outdoors, and prescription lens inserts are available.
What is not known yet
The material does not give a price or a release date. It also does not say how well the translation, display or camera work in daily use, or whether the cover is the only privacy feature. Those answers will matter before anyone buys.
The takeawayThe GO3 pair a display with Gemini and a camera cover, but price, release date and real-world results are still unknown.
