Mastercard has launched an AI assistant that answers questions about the perks on your card and nudges you to use them. It is called Mastercard Max. The company announced it on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The first bank to offer it is C6 Bank, a digital bank in Brazil.
How it works
You will not download Mastercard Max from Mastercard. Banks add it to their own channels, such as a mobile banking app or an AI assistant they already run. Mastercard handles the AI work behind the scenes, so banks do not have to build their own. It is open to banks worldwide.
The assistant draws on benefit information from both Mastercard and your bank. Mastercard gave examples of what it can do:
- Point out travel benefits while you book a trip
- Remind you about airport lounge access or Fast Track services on the way to the airport
- Highlight dining and entertainment perks once you arrive
What is not known yet
The material does not say which other banks will offer Max, or when. It also does not say whether banks in the United States are signed up, or whether it costs anything. Your bank has to choose to add it, so you may not see it soon.
The idea targets a real gap. A PYMNTS Intelligence report from January 2025 found that 55% of cardholders who say rewards are easy to redeem actively use most or all of their available benefits.
The takeawayMastercard Max shows up only if your bank adds it, so for now check your card's benefits yourself and watch your banking app for an assistant.
