Kohl's shoppers in the United States can now pay for orders in installments through Klarna. Klarna announced it in a Thursday (Oct. 29) press release. The option works when paying on the Kohl's website or in the Kohl's app.
What changed
Klarna is a company that lets people pay over time at checkout. At Kohl's, shoppers now see three choices, according to the Kohl's website.
- Pay in full: pay the whole amount at once.
- Pay in 4: make four interest-free payments.
- Pay over time: spread a larger purchase over monthly payments.
Kohl's said in an Oct. 21 holiday press release that it recently launched the options to give customers more ways to pay this holiday.
What to know
Installment plans can make a big holiday bill easier to manage. They can also make it easier to spend more. A 2024 PYMNTS Intelligence report found that more than 25% of shoppers who decide to use financing before checkout buy more and are more willing to pay full price. About half of holiday shoppers said they were open to pay later plans.
The material does not say whether Pay over time carries interest or fees, whether a credit check is needed, or whether the option reaches Kohl's stores. Read the terms at checkout before choosing a plan.
The takeawayInstallments can ease a holiday budget, but check the terms and total cost before you pick Pay in 4 or Pay over time.
