JPMorgan Chase is bringing more of OpenAI's technology inside the bank. OpenAI President Greg Brockman announced on Wednesday, Nov. 4, that the bank will use Codex, OpenAI's coding agent, along with specialized cybersecurity models. JPMorgan plans to use both internally to strengthen security.
What changed
The two companies already work together. JPMorgan has used OpenAI models since 2024 through LLM Suite, its in-house AI platform. The new agreement adds engineering and cybersecurity work, plus what Brockman described as broader work across the bank.
LLM Suite also offers models from Anthropic. It is available to hundreds of thousands of employees. By early 2026, about 150,000 people were using it each week.
Brockman said trust and regulatory standards are central to this work. He also said business customers now make up a majority of OpenAI's revenue, up from about 30% before.
What is not known yet
The reporting does not give the cost or length of the deal. It does not say which teams will use the tools first, or when they will roll out. It also does not explain how the tools will be used day to day, or whether customers will notice any change in their accounts.
For now, the main signal is direction. A large bank is giving AI a role in writing software and defending its systems, which could shape how the tools that guard your money are built.
The takeawayA major bank is putting AI to work on its own code and security, but the details and any customer impact have not been shared yet.
