Google Cloud and Oracle announced at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas that AI assistants can now work directly with company data stored in Oracle databases. Some pieces are available today. Others are in preview, with sign-ups open. The goal is to let staff ask questions of business records in plain English instead of waiting for a developer.

What changed

Many companies keep supply chain records, financial ledgers and billing systems in Oracle databases. Until now, connecting an AI tool to that data often meant building custom software in between. Google says the new setup removes the need for that extra software, along with special servers and passwords stored as plain text.

Available today

  • A secure link, called a Remote MCP Server, lets AI tools run database commands. It is generally available.
  • Google Cloud access rules control who can do what, and passwords are handled automatically.
  • Oracle in Gemini Enterprise is live, with over 135 pre-built skills for common tasks.
  • It works with JD Edwards, E-Business Suite, NetSuite and Oracle Fusion, without custom code.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. In plain terms, it is a standard way for AI tools to connect to other software.

Still in preview

Two features are not finished. A Gemini connector would let business users ask questions about their Oracle databases inside the Gemini app. Google says answers are based only on data each person is already allowed to see. A Knowledge Catalog feature supports that by cataloging what data exists and who can access it. Both have sign-up pages.

More in the announcement

Google also says its Gemini AI models are being built into Oracle Fusion Applications and NetSuite. Partners including IBM, Infosys, TCS, HCL and Pythian are offering ready-made setups and connectors. The companies also said Google's TPU chips will be available through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and that data sharing between Oracle and Google's lakehouse is becoming two-way.

What is not known yet

The material does not give prices, preview dates or which regions can use each feature. It also does not say how well the tools perform on real company data. Businesses on Oracle software should check with their Oracle or Google Cloud contacts before planning around the preview features.

The takeaway

If your business runs on Oracle, ask your vendor which of these AI tools you can use now and which are still in preview.
