Sales teams in Delhi-NCR are closing business deals inside WhatsApp chats instead of sending prospects to web forms. At the same time, Meta changed its pricing in India, so long, chatty conversations can now cost a company money. Teams are responding by tightening how they write and by moving off personal phones.

What changed

On October 1, 2026, Meta began billing for service replies in India once a business passes 1,000 free messages a month. A service reply is a free-form answer a sales rep types to a customer within the 24-hour service window. This applies to the WhatsApp Business API, the version of WhatsApp that companies connect to their own software.

A free window for ad leads

Leads who arrive through Click-to-WhatsApp ads on Facebook or Instagram get a 7-day window with no per-message fees. Agencies in Gurugram send ad traffic straight into a chat rather than a lead form. Reps then have a week to pitch, share brochures, answer objections and book demos or site visits.

Tools teams are using

  • Meta Business Agent: an AI assistant that answers late-night questions on pricing, minimum order quantities and delivery, then hands the lead to a person.
  • WhatsApp Flows and in-chat catalogs: buyers browse products, pick service tiers and pay without leaving the chat.
  • AiSensy and Interakt: tools that give a team one shared inbox instead of scattered phones.

Sales teams in Okhla and Noida are reported to be using the Meta Business Agent. It checks the company's customer database, qualifies the lead, and leaves the follow-up to a human the next morning.

Fewer, better messages

Because replies now cost money past the free allowance, sales directors are training reps to send fewer messages. Instead of casual back and forth, they bundle pitch decks, pricing and next-step links into one message. The goal is to keep chats short and direct.

The shared inbox also solves a risk. Meta enforces anti-spam rules and has banned personal accounts used for business. With a shared inbox, chat history and contacts stay with the company if a rep leaves.

What is not clear

The article gives no sales results, no per-message price after the free allowance, and no cost for the tools it names. Its claim that cold email is finished is the author's view, not a measured finding. Any business weighing this should check Meta's current India rates and each tool's fees first.

The takeaway

WhatsApp can speed up B2B sales, but past 1,000 free service replies a month in India, short, planned messages protect your budget.
