OpenAI now lets people in the US talk to ChatGPT about their money. Voice chat has been added to Finances in ChatGPT, so you can ask about spending, savings, budgets, investments and credit by speaking instead of typing. OpenAI announced the voice feature on November 3, 2026.

What it does

Finances in ChatGPT connects to your financial accounts. Plaid handles the bank connections. Experian provides credit monitoring. The connections are read-only, so ChatGPT can see balances and transactions but cannot move money. OpenAI also says the tool does not replace professional financial advice.

The tool began on May 15, 2026, as a preview for Pro users in the US. It could connect to more than 12,000 financial institutions through Plaid. Since then, OpenAI has added weekly updates, credit monitoring, stock watchlists, Android access and manual account entry.

Who can use it

Only users in the US. The finance tool reached the Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans in early October 2026. Voice support for Free and Go users became available on October 2, 2026. The product lead is Ethan Bloch, who co-founded the savings app Digit.

What is not known yet

The report does not say whether voice costs extra, whether Plus and Pro users get voice on the same timeline, or when the feature might reach other countries. Answers from the tool are best treated as a starting point, not as advice from a financial professional.

The takeaway

If you link your accounts, you can check your budget by voice, but treat ChatGPT as a helper and not a replacement for a real financial adviser.
