CarParts.com, an online store for car parts and accessories, now lets shoppers pay with Klarna at checkout. Klarna announced the move in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Customers can pay all at once, split the bill into four payments, or spread the cost over a longer period.
What changed
Klarna's three choices are called Pay in full, Pay in 4 and Pay over time. Pay in 4 splits a purchase into four interest-free payments. Pay over time spreads the cost with financing, which means borrowing and paying back over time. CarParts.com's chief operating officer, Michael Huffaker, said the options give customers more control over how they pay.
Klarna's Sarah Kocina said a driver can pick the option that fits the purchase, whether it is a quick fix or a major repair. Klarna says its network includes 1.2 million retailers and 120 million global active users.
What is not known yet
The material does not say what Pay over time costs, what rates apply, or who qualifies. That matters, because only Pay in 4 is described as interest-free. Check the terms shown at checkout before choosing financing.
Stores add options like this for a reason. A 2024 PYMNTS Intelligence report found that 70% of consumers called the availability of their preferred payment method very or extremely influential when choosing an online store.
The takeawayPay in 4 is described as interest-free, but read the terms for Pay over time before you finance a car part.
