Apple has put a price on the most powerful Mac Studio it sells. The version with 512GB of memory costs $22,299. Apple first said in August that this option would arrive in October, and the price is now listed in its online configurator.
What you get
The 512GB option is offered only with the top chip, the M5 Ultra. That chip has a 36-core CPU and an 80-core GPU, which are the parts that handle general tasks and graphics. The memory upgrade alone adds $15,500 to the base version of that chip, which comes with 96GB of memory.
- $22,299: M5 Ultra, 512GB of memory, 1TB of storage
- $29,799: the same machine with storage raised to 16TB
- Delivery: late November to early December
Who it is for
Memory is the space a computer uses to hold the work it is doing right now. More of it helps with big jobs, such as running large AI models or editing demanding video. For email, documents, browsing and everyday office work, a far cheaper Mac will do the job.
Before spending anything close to this, check what your actual work needs. The source does not say how much faster this setup is in real use, so that is worth checking in independent tests before ordering.
The takeawayThe 512GB Mac Studio is a $22,299 machine for extreme workloads, so confirm you truly need that much memory before you consider it.
