Apple Watch update makes Siri remember what you asked before

Apple's watchOS 27.2 lets Siri recall earlier chats and use more of your personal data, including voicemails. A new setting lets you limit what it reads.

Apple has released watchOS 27.2, and the big change is that Siri on your Apple Watch can now remember what you asked it before. You can ask about something it told you earlier, such as the restaurants it suggested last week. It is the first major update to watchOS 27.

What changed

Apple's release notes say Siri AI now keeps useful context from past conversations and answers faster on the watch. It also pulls from more of your personal information to build answers.

  • Photos attached in Messages
  • Calendar event attendees
  • Your voicemails
  • Better results from Safari history and Reading List on your iPhone

Siri AI also supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. It is not available in the EU or mainland China. The update also includes other features, bug fixes and security updates.

What to do

Because Siri can see more of your messages and voicemails, look at the new Excluded Apps setting on your iPhone. It lets you choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access, all in one place.

To install the update, open Settings on the watch or the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. The watch must be on its charger with more than 50 percent battery.

What is not clear

The release notes do not say which watch models get the new Siri features or whether anything changes in the price of the software. Check your own watch for the update before assuming it applies.

The takeaway

After updating, check Excluded Apps on your iPhone to decide which apps Siri is allowed to read.
