Apple says almost 100 components in its newest iPhones, the foldable iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro, are now made in America. The parts come from more than a dozen states. The announcement covers components, not final assembly, so the phones are not being built start to finish in the U.S.

What changed

Apple added two partners to its American Manufacturing Program. Perryman Company, a family business in Houston, Pennsylvania, will supply grade 5 titanium for the iPhone Duo's enclosure. Grade 5 is a relatively strong titanium alloy, and at least 80% of the metal is recycled.

Qnity Electronics in Delaware will make specialty films for the iPhone 18 Pro's variable aperture. The aperture is the opening that widens or narrows to control how much light enters the camera. That system anchors the phone's 48MP Fusion Main camera.

The money and the fine print

Apple is pledging up to $100 million to Perryman over three years. That is a ceiling, not a guarantee. The real figure depends on how much titanium Apple actually orders, which is worth watching.

Other U.S. projects

  • Corning plans to make all cover glass for iPhones and Apple Watches sold worldwide at its Kentucky plant before 2026 ends.
  • Broadcom is investing $1.5 billion in Colorado, with a multiyear deal covering over 15 billion radio-frequency chips, which handle wireless signals.
  • TSMC's Arizona plant is making over 100 million Apple chips in 2026.
  • Apple's Houston, Texas, facility will also start building Mac minis this year.

What it means for buyers

Nothing changes for your purchase or delivery date. Anyone hoping the news would get an iPhone Duo into their hands sooner will be disappointed. This is a supply chain story, not a reason to buy now or to wait.

It is still real progress for American factories. Making more parts at home is not the same as assembling a phone at home, and that gap is the key detail behind the headline.

The takeaway

More iPhone parts are made in the U.S., but the phones are not assembled there, and your buying plans or delivery date do not change.
