Apple says some of its AI features are coming to iPhones in China. The company announced that the first test version of iOS 27.3 will be released next week. A public release is planned for December, but Apple has not given a date.

What changed

The test version is a developer beta, an early build that app makers and testers try before everyone else. Apple's China announcement says it arrives Wednesday, November 4. Because of time zones, that likely means Tuesday, November 3 in the U.S.

It turns on some of the earlier Apple Intelligence features, which is Apple's name for its AI tools. These are:

  • Writing Tools
  • Genmoji
  • Clean Up
  • Notification Summaries
  • Priority Notifications
  • Live Translation with AirPods

Who it affects

The features need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Both the iPhone language and the Siri language must be set to English and Chinese (Simplified).

Siri AI and the other newer Apple Intelligence features announced at WWDC 2026 will not be available in China on iOS 27.3, according to Apple. The material does not say whether or when they might follow.

The takeaway

If you use an iPhone 15 Pro or newer in China, expect some Apple AI tools in December, but not the new Siri.
