Apple is opening Siri AI to the other apps on your iPhone. With the iOS 27.3 update, rolling out Tuesday as a Developer Preview, app makers can now connect Siri AI's new features to "all apps." A Developer Preview is an early version meant for app makers to test.
What changed
Siri AI can use your personal context, understand everyday phrasing, and use what is on your screen to finish a request. Developers can also build "app skills," which bundle several steps into one action. Apple says you will not need to say an app's name when you are already in it, while its Live Activity is running, or while you are talking to Siri AI about it.
Apple's example is a ride share app. You request a ride, watch the Live Activity as you wait, then say, "Hey Siri, change my ride pickup to a new address."
Apple's own apps too
Apple is adding the same abilities to its own apps. The list includes Calendar, Files, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Reminders, Safari and Weather. Apple's examples are finding a coffee shop you visited last week and archiving files you have not opened in over a year. You can ask Siri AI what it can do in each app.
What is not known yet
The material does not say when the update reaches everyone, or which apps will add support first. Apple had already offered a smaller set of these features to developers. For now, the practical step is to ask Siri what it can do inside the apps you use most.
The takeawaySiri AI is starting to work inside other apps, so ask Siri what it can do in the apps you use most once they support it.
