YouTube Music is now on Garmin's Fenix 9 watches, so runners and hikers may be able to listen without carrying a phone.
YouTube Music now works on Garmin's newest Fenix watches. According to Android Authority, the app is available on Fenix 9 models. For people who run, hike or swim with one, that could mean leaving the phone at home and still having music on the wrist.
Until now, Fenix 9 owners who wanted YouTube Music had no app on the watch itself. Android Authority reports that the app is now there. Fenix is Garmin's line of rugged sports watches, built for runners, hikers and swimmers.
The news matters most to Fenix 9 owners who already use YouTube Music. It may also matter to anyone weighing a Fenix 9 who wants music without a phone strapped to an arm or tucked in a pocket.
The material available does not say how the app works on the watch. It does not say whether downloads for offline listening are included, what the feature costs, or whether older Fenix models get it. Those details were not in the report we reviewed.
If you own a Fenix 9, check your watch model and YouTube Music plan, then see if you can leave the phone behind.
