WhatsApp has removed the time limit on pinned messages. You can now pin a message so it stays at the top of a chat for good. Before, a pin lasted 30 days at most. WhatsApp announced the change in a post on its blog, as reported by The Star.
What changed
When you pin a message, you can now choose the "Always" option. That keeps it in place until you remove it. This helps with details people keep asking about, such as an address, a meeting time or the rules of a group.
WhatsApp says the update comes with other tools to help people catch up after being busy. Here is what else is new:
- Tap a new member's name to send them the group's recent message history. Before, you had to switch this on before adding them.
- Group members can share status updates inside the group. These stay visible for 24 hours, then disappear.
- Groups get a filter that shows only direct replies and mentions.
What is not known yet
The material does not say when these features reach every user, or whether they arrive on all phones at the same time. It also does not say how much message history is sent to a new member. If you do not see the "Always" option yet, the update may not have reached your account.
The takeawayNext time you pin a message in a family or work group, look for the "Always" option so key details stay at the top.
