Vivo is taking its newest flagship phones beyond China. The X500 series has three models: the X500, the X500 Pro and the X500 Pro Max. All three carry much larger batteries than many phones on sale today. Prices and release dates for individual countries have not been announced.
What changed
The lineup first debuted in China and has now launched internationally. Vivo skipped the name X400 and went straight from the X300 series, released earlier this year, to the X500. The source says it is not clear why.
Battery and speed
Vivo uses silicon-carbon battery technology, which packs more power into the same space. The capacities are:
- X500 Pro Max: 8,000 mAh
- X500: 7,500 mAh
- X500 Pro: 6,510 mAh
All three support 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. They are rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance and run OriginOS 7, which is based on Android 17. The Pro and Pro Max are the first phones to use MediaTek's new 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip. The standard X500 uses the Dimensity 9600M.
Screens
The Pro has a 6.36-inch display and the Pro Max has a 6.85-inch display. Both Pro screens run at 144Hz and reach up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The X500 has a 6.59-inch 144Hz screen.
Cameras
Cameras are the main focus, and Vivo worked with Zeiss on the Pro models. The Pro Max has a 200MP zoom camera. The Pro has a 64MP zoom camera. Both have a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Both also support an optional add-on zoom lens that Vivo sells separately.
For video, the Pro and Pro Max shoot 4K slow motion at 240 frames per second. The Pro Max also records 8K video at 30 frames per second. The base X500 has a 50MP main camera, a 64MP zoom camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Colors and what is still unknown
The X500 comes in White, Gray, Black and Pink. The Pro and Pro Max come in White, Gray, Black and Sunset Orange. Regional pricing and availability dates are still to come, and the source says it will update once they are confirmed.
The takeawayIf you shop for Android phones, watch for local prices and dates, since none have been announced for the X500 series.
