Ticketmaster has updated its mobile app with a Watchlist, a single place to follow upcoming ticket sales and event updates. If you chase tickets for popular shows, it is meant to help you catch presales before tickets sell out. The update is live for many iPhone and Android users in 21 markets, with wider access to follow.

What changed

The Watchlist is the main addition. It tracks sales and updates in one spot, which could matter most for big events that sell tickets in stages. Those stages can include artist presales, venue presales and the general public on-sale.

The Home screen is also reorganized. Recommendations now sit in groups called "For You," "Trending" and "Last Minute." The idea is to show events that match your interests, popular shows, and tickets still available close to the event date.

  • Watchlist for presales, public on-sales and event updates
  • Home screen sections: For You, Trending and Last Minute
  • Improved search built into the app
  • Easier location changes to browse events while traveling
  • Higher-contrast visuals, display controls and Dark Mode

How Favorites fits in

Ticketmaster also upgraded Favorites, which lets you follow artists, sports teams and other performers. The company says the information gathered through Favorites helps decide which events appear more prominently for each person. In plain terms, what you follow shapes what the app puts in front of you.

Why Ticketmaster did it

The company says about 40% of fans have missed an event because they did not know it was happening. Ticketmaster Global President Saumil Mehta said, "Too many fans first hear about a great show after it's happened." He called the update "the beginning of a broader effort" to make finding and following live events feel more personal.

There is a business angle too. Ticketing platforms now compete on how fans learn about events, not just on selling the ticket. Alerts about presales, ticket drops and last-minute availability can keep fans inside one app through the whole buying process.

What is not known yet

The material does not say whether the new features cost anything, which 21 markets are included, or when everyone else will get the update. It also does not say whether the Watchlist alerts will help in a rush for the most in-demand shows. If you do not see the new features yet, they may not have reached your account.

The takeaway

Ticketmaster's new Watchlist puts presale and on-sale tracking in one place, but check your app to see whether it has reached you yet.
