Apple has started testing iOS 27.3, and the beta gives Siri a lot more to do. Siri can now work inside many Apple apps on iPhone, iPad and Mac. That includes Music, Messages, Safari, Reminders, Photos, Calendar, Journal and Files. The idea is simple: tasks you used to tap through can now be done by asking.
What Siri can do now
9to5Mac, which is still testing the beta, lists a first batch of new abilities. Here are the ones it describes by app.
- Music: ask for a playlist, such as songs for a day at the beach, and save it to your library.
- Messages: schedule texts for later, edit or unsend them, and reply with emoji reactions.
- Photos: favorite photos, rotate and edit images, and rename people and pets.
- Calendar: create events with invitees, a location and video call links.
- Reminders: create urgent reminders for the first time.
Notes also gets help. Siri can write new notes with bold, italic and rich text formatting, and organize your Notes folders.
Web, journal and files
In Safari, Siri can create groups from a list of web links, sort your tabs, clear your history and delete reading list items. Journal support is new. You can create entries from spoken text or record audio entries. Files gets wide support too. Siri can read file content, create files and folders, send files to the trash, organize by type and rename files.
There are also new Siri features for Weather, Maps, Preview and Shortcuts. The testers say they will keep looking for more.
Who it affects
Anyone with an iPhone, iPad or Mac may see the change once the update is public. It could matter most if you often juggle small chores, like moving files, cleaning up photos or setting reminders. Apple is also opening this support to third-party developers. That suggests apps from other companies could eventually respond to Siri in similar ways.
What is not known yet
The report does not say which devices will get these features or whether any will cost extra. Beta software is a test version, so features can change before release. The reporter has not yet tested everything, so how well each one works is still unclear.
What happens next
iOS 27.3 is in beta now and is expected to reach the public later this year. Until then, most people should wait for the final version. The beta is meant for testing, and test versions can have problems.
The takeawaySiri in the iOS 27.3 beta can handle many small app tasks by voice, and the public release is expected later this year.
