Shopify, the company that powers many online stores, reported that its revenue grew 32% in the quarter that ended September 30, 2026. Shops on its platform sold $119 billion worth of goods in that time. The company also says it is building shopping into AI assistants and other places beyond a regular website.

What the numbers mean

The 32% growth figure was the same when currency swings were removed. Shopify also kept 22% of its revenue as free cash flow, which is cash left after running costs. The $119 billion figure is called GMV, the total value of orders through Shopify, after refunds and including shipping, duties and taxes.

Shopify says millions of businesses in more than 175 countries use it. Brands named include Aldo, BarkBox, Carrier, Meta, SKIMS, Supreme and Vuori.

What is not clear yet

The material does not give the dollar amount of revenue or Shopify's forecast for the next quarter. It also does not explain how the AI shopping tools will work or when store owners can use them. Harley Finkelstein, Shopify's president, said the company is building commerce into "every surface, every agent."

Shopify also lists risks that could change its results, including tariffs, weaker consumer spending, how quickly AI is adopted and cyberattacks. Its management held a call about the results on November 3 at 8:30 a.m. ET.

The takeaway

If you sell online, watch how Shopify brings shopping into AI assistants, because that may become another place customers find you.
