Shopify store owners can now ask Shopify's built-in AI assistant, called Sidekick, to set up upsell offers for them. Zipify announced on November 6, 2026 that its app OneClickUpsell now works with Sidekick. Zipify says it is the first upsell app to do so. The owner describes the offer in plain English, and Sidekick builds it.
What changed
An upsell is an add-on offer shown to a shopper, such as a second product at a discount. Until now, store owners built these offers by hand in the app. Now they can open Sidekick from the top-right corner of the Shopify admin and describe what they want. Sidekick already knows the store's products and sales, so it can suggest the trigger product, the upsell product, the offer name and the discount.
Owners who know what they want can spell it out, and Sidekick builds it to those instructions.
You stay in control
Sidekick never publishes an offer without the store owner's approval. After an offer goes live, it can be edited in the OneClickUpsell builder like any other offer. That means the AI does the setup work, but the owner makes the final call.
Help and advice in the chat
Sidekick is also connected to the app's full help center. It can answer setup questions in the same chat, such as where to start, or the difference between offers shown before purchase and after purchase. Zipify says that when Sidekick was asked how to upsell without annoying customers, it advised offering only products that complement the purchase. It also suggested starting with offers after checkout, which never interrupt the buying process.
Three AI options, different jobs
Sidekick joins two AI tools Zipify already offered. Each does something a little different:
- Shopify Sidekick builds offers on request, from inside the Shopify admin.
- The OCU AI Assistant reads funnel performance, recommends what to build next and builds it.
- Claude or ChatGPT can analyze performance and draft offers once connected through Zipify's connector.
Zipify says that to study how existing offers are performing, owners should use its own assistant or the connector. For now, Sidekick reads Shopify data and builds what it is asked to.
Cost and availability
The Sidekick integration is available now to OneClickUpsell users. The app starts at $9.95 per month, with a 30-day free trial, and is sold through the Shopify App Store. The details come from Zipify's own announcement, so the claim of being first has not been independently checked.
The takeawayStore owners can now build upsell offers by chatting with Sidekick, and nothing goes live until they approve it.
