Viture has released a collector's edition of its smart glasses to match the game Phantom Blade Zero. The Viture Phantom Beast costs $599 and went on sale October 30 at Viture's website. It is the company's second special edition pair, made with game studio S-GAME.
What you get
The glasses show a virtual screen equal to a 174-inch display. You can adjust its size and distance. Each eye gets 1200p video at 120Hz, with 1,250-nit peak brightness, nine levels of screen dimming and speakers built into the temples.
Under the styling, it matches the standard Viture Beast from earlier this year, including the same tracking and optics. What is new is a color scheme, metal decals on the temples modeled on the game's Soul Blade, and a metal-and-leather case that "unsheaths." Three exclusive collectibles are included, though the material does not say what they are.
What else you need
Phones and computers that support USB-C display output work plug-and-play. Other devices need add-ons:
- PS5: a separate $29 cable.
- Nintendo Switch and Switch 2: the Mobile Dock Mini, which also serves as a 10,000mAh battery pack.
- The price of the Mobile Dock Mini was not given.
Many buyers will pay more than $599 once cables or the dock are counted. It is also unclear how much of the price goes to the collector's packaging rather than to the glasses, since the core hardware matches the standard model.
The takeawayThe Phantom Beast is a $599 collector's version of Viture's glasses, so check which cable or dock your device needs before buying.
