Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told a Berlin crowd that Europe can build AI computing power much faster, with data centers that arrive pre-assembled. The product is called the DSX Pod. Nvidia says it can be switched on in 14 days, compared with months or years for a traditional build. Huang spoke on Wednesday at Nvidia's GTC conference, in front of about 4,000 people.
What changed
The DSX Pod is a ready-made data center, which is a building full of powerful computers that run AI. Everything arrives already assembled in a large metal container. Inside are Nvidia's latest chips, in its Vera Rubin computer racks. Nvidia calls it a plug-and-play option. Huang also said it would cut the time computing equipment sits idle, because the center comes online sooner.
Why Europe
Huang argued that Europe should not only use AI but also produce it. "You don't want to just be consuming the AI. You want to be producing the AI," he said. The article notes that infrastructure projects in Europe are notoriously slow, so a data center that arrives ready to run could matter there more than elsewhere.
Robots, cars and more
The speech went well beyond data centers. Huang called humanoid robotics, meaning robots built in human form, the "next great industry." He said Europe's manufacturing history puts it in a good position to lead.
- Nvidia is launching a full-stack robotics platform to standardize how robots are set up.
- A ready-made reference robot called Agile One is due in the first quarter of next year.
- Nvidia announced partnerships with carmakers VW and Mercedes on self-driving vehicles.
- Huang said telecom companies are adding Nvidia chips to their cell towers.
Huang also predicted that every company will use both closed AI models and open ones it customizes with its own data. He said AI agents, which are programs that carry out tasks on their own, will increase demand for computing.
What is not known yet
The material does not give a price for the DSX Pod. It does not say who has ordered one or where the first ones will go. The 14-day figure is Nvidia's own claim. The event also drew criticism: two Greenpeace protesters unfurled a banner reading "Clean up your dirty business."
What it means for you
If AI computing becomes cheaper and quicker to build, the AI tools your business uses could become easier to find and run. Nvidia stands to gain the most, since the Pod is packed with its own chips and Huang says more AI use means more demand for them.
The takeawayNvidia says a plug-in data center can be running in 14 days, but price and customers are unknown, and Nvidia gains most if it catches on.
