A Nigerian company called Indigenius AI has launched a service that lets businesses hand routine customer phone calls to an AI voice agent. The product is called Agentic Announcer. It is open to businesses in Nigeria, Canada and the United States, and it talks with customers rather than just sending them a message.
What it does
A business uploads a customer list through its customer relationship management system, the software many firms use to track their customers. It then picks the purpose of the campaign. The AI makes the calls, listens to answers and acts within the instructions the business has set.
- Payment and renewal reminders
- Appointment confirmations
- Order and delivery updates
- Account updates, service alerts and customer surveys
The agent speaks English, Nigerian Pidgin, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Swahili and French. Each call is logged with a transcript and a recording, so a business can see who was reached, what they said and what they promised.
Why the company says calls beat email
Indigenius points to a MailerLite study of 3.6 million email campaigns. It found an average open rate of 43.46 percent in 2025, but an average click rate of only 2.09 percent. The company argues a call gets a real answer, especially from people who find writing hard or prefer their own language. It also says the AI can place many calls at once, which human callers cannot.
The company says the service can pair with Indigenius Conversations, its agent for incoming calls, WhatsApp messages and website chats. That agent can handle routine requests and pass harder cases to a person. Indigenius says its platform has handled more than one million calls for organizations in financial services, healthcare, education and the public sector.
Safeguards and cost
Indigenius says the agent tells people it is an AI and names the business it is calling for. It does not ask for PINs, one-time passwords or account passwords. It only calls numbers the business already holds, and it does not make political calls. Anyone who asks to stop being called will not be contacted again.
Calls come from registered numbers that show the business's verified identity, so a recipient can check the caller using contact details they already trust. Businesses pay per minute of AI talk time. The chief executive says a company can start with one customer list and one campaign, and go live within days.
What is not known yet
The article gives no price per minute. Its claims about safeguards and call volume come from the company, and there is no independent check in the report. It also does not say how well the AI handles each language or accents in real calls.
The takeawayIf an AI agent calls you for a business, it should say so, and you can ask it to stop calling.
