IQOO has launched the Neo 12, an upper mid-range phone that uses the same Qualcomm chip as the $1,300 Galaxy S26 Ultra. It is on sale in China now. Buyers elsewhere will have to wait, because no global release date has been announced.
What is inside
The chip is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. To keep it cool, the phone has a 59-blade fan and a vapor chamber, a thin part that spreads heat. The battery is 9,000mAh and charges at 100W over a cable. The IP69 rating means strong protection against water and dust, even with the fan.
- Screen: 6.83-inch AMOLED, 185Hz, 2K resolution, 2,200 nits peak brightness
- Cameras: 50MP Sony IMX921 main, 8MP ultra-wide, 16MP selfie
- Extras: ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, IR sensor
- Colors: Contender, Frost Blade Blue and Shadow Black
Who it is for
The Neo 12 leans toward mobile gamers. It has a custom display chip for faster touch response and a sensitive gyro, which lets players aim by tilting the phone. The fan and large battery fit that same goal.
What is not known yet
Chinese buyers can get the phone from Vivo right now. The report does not state the price, only that it is not bad for the specs. A global launch has not been confirmed, so there is no word on other countries or on pricing outside China.
The takeawayThe Neo 12 shows how much a mid-priced phone can offer, but it is only sold in China for now.
