Apple's iOS 27.2 update gives iPhone owners one place to keep chosen apps away from Siri, Search and suggestions. The new menu is called Excluded Apps. Add an app to the list once, and it is off limits to all three. Before, doing the same job took many separate steps.
What changed
Under the old setup, you opened Settings, then Apple Intelligence & Siri, then Apps, and adjusted each app's switches one by one. Those included a switch for letting Siri learn from the app, plus several suggestion options for Search and widgets. Some switches only controlled on-device personalization, not access to what is inside an app. Keeping an app's content out of search results also meant turning off a separate Show Content in Search switch in each app's settings.
Excluded Apps replaces those App Access controls with a single list where you can select several apps at once.
What you give up
Excluding an app can switch off some Siri features for it. The Electronic Freedom Foundation found that excluding Messages stops Siri AI from reading or replying to your messages. Onscreen awareness, where you ask Siri about whatever is on your screen, will also stop working in any app you exclude.
To undo it, open the Excluded Apps menu and tap Edit. Tap the minus button next to the app, then tap the checkmark at the top to confirm.
The takeawayAfter updating to iOS 27.2, use Excluded Apps to hide private apps from Siri and Search, and expect some Siri features to stop working in them.
