Apple has added a one-handed mode to the iPhone Duo in iOS 27.3 beta 1, a test version of its software released today. The feature is called Reachability. It slides the screen sideways so your thumb can reach more of it.
What changed
When iPhone Duo reviews first arrived last month, some reviewers said the extra-wide outer display was hard to use with one hand. Apple said then that it would add Reachability in a future software update. This is that update.
On other iPhones, Reachability moves the screen down. On the Duo it works sideways. Once it is on, a short swipe to the side of the screen shifts everything to the left or right.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Accessibility.
- Tap Reachability and turn it on.
What happens next
For now, iOS 27.3 is only in a developer beta, which is an early test version meant for app makers. A public beta is expected in the coming days. Anyone worried about bugs or slow performance should wait for the final version.
Apple has said iOS 27.3 will reach all users next month, with mid-December the most likely window. How well Reachability works in daily use is not yet clear, and no exact release date has been given.
The takeawayIf the Duo feels too wide for one hand, Reachability is coming in iOS 27.3, and waiting for the December release is the safer choice than the beta.
