Apple's iPadOS 27.2 update is out, and two of its new features are easy to notice. Select text with a mouse or trackpad and a small Siri helper appears beside it. The Apple TV app now asks who is watching, so each person gets their own shows and history. 9to5Mac reported on both.
What changed
The Siri helper shows up to the left of any text you select. Hover over its icon and it opens a box where you can type a question. While you write, it also offers one-click choices: Proofread, Rewrite and How does this sound? The same idea first appeared on the Mac in macOS Golden Gate.
In the Apple TV app, a profile screen now appears at startup. Pick a name and the app updates your queue, your playback history and its recommendations. This is the same profiles feature that Apple TV 4K already had.
Who it affects
Families get the most from the profiles. When a child's profile is active, the app shows only films and TV shows that fit the age settings a parent set earlier. Anyone who does not want profiles can stop the screen from appearing at startup with a quick tap. The Siri helper is for people who use a mouse or trackpad with their iPad.
What is not known
The material does not say what the update costs or which iPad models can run it. It also says Apple's release notes list more Siri upgrades, but it does not spell them out.
The takeawayIf you share an iPad, update to iPadOS 27.2 and set up Apple TV profiles so each person keeps their own shows and kids see age-fitting titles.
