Intuit is adding AI tools to QuickBooks that find overdue invoices and send payment reminders for you. The company announced the expansion of its Intuit Intelligence platform on October 27 at Intuit Connect 2026 in Las Vegas. The updates also reach Intuit Enterprise Suite and Intuit Accountant Suite, and they aim to help businesses and their accountants work more closely.

Why late invoices are the focus

Intuit's 2026 QuickBooks Small Business Late Payments Report says 59% of small businesses have invoices overdue by at least 30 days. A year ago the figure was 47%. The new tools identify aging invoices, compare your business with industry peers, and send reminders automatically.

Intuit says customers who used its outstanding invoice notifications and AI-drafted reminders were paid four days faster on average than similar customers using standard reminders. That comes from an analysis between March 2025 and March 2026. Intuit notes it does not guarantee the same result for every business.

What accountants get

Intuit says more than 250,000 accounting firms use Intuit Accountant Suite. A new feature, Agentic Books Close, automates parts of the monthly close, which is the routine of checking and finalizing a month's records. It follows a firm's own procedures and logs its actions. Accountants still review results, approve transactions and handle exceptions.

Firm Playbooks standardize client onboarding and recurring tasks. Portfolio intelligence tools flag unusual numbers, trends and benchmarks across many clients. Intuit estimates its automation can cut accountants' manual work by about 30%, which could free time for planning and advice.

Bigger and specialized businesses

Intuit Enterprise Suite and QuickBooks Online Advanced are getting more features for complex needs.

  • Manufacturers: inventory across locations, production, shipping and bills of materials.
  • Nonprofits: built-in fund and grant accounting, possibly replacing spreadsheets.
  • Wider reporting, multi-entity consolidation and multi-currency support.
  • Automated revenue management, planned after Intuit's acquisition of Sequence.

What is ready and what is not

Intuit says the rollout begins October 27 for U.S. businesses and accounting firms. But several pieces are unfinished. Firm Playbooks and portfolio intelligence are in beta, meaning still being tested. Agentic Books Close is a pilot with select customers. Construction and manufacturing tools are in beta. Nonprofit accounting, multi-currency and revenue management are due in future releases. A firm support program, ProPartner, is set for early 2027.

What to do

The material does not give pricing. If late payments strain your cash, the reminder tools are the nearest-term thing to try. Weigh time savings against cost and setup effort, and keep your accountant involved. Intuit's own results are averages, so track whether you actually get paid faster.

The takeaway

If late payments hurt your cash flow, test the new QuickBooks reminders, but check the cost and keep your accountant in the loop.
