Free tool shows how AI chatbots link companies to their brands

A New York firm launched a free tool that shows whether AI chatbots name your company or only your brands. Its L'Oréal test found most answers skipped the parent.

Dageno, a New York AI search analytics company, launched a free tool called Brand Explorer on October 28, 2026. Type in a company, brand or website, and it shows how AI chatbots connect that name to brands, products, competitors and sources. The company's own test on L'Oréal found that about 97% of related AI answers never named L'Oréal.

What the tool does

Most AI tracking tools only watch the names and questions a team types in. Anything the team forgets stays invisible. Brand Explorer works the other way around. It reads the AI answers Dageno collects daily and picks out every company, brand, product, ad, media outlet, creator and research report it finds. Then it maps how they relate.

That lets a team ask which product gets the most AI visibility, which outlet or influencer shapes the answers, and which ad actually appeared in a response. Dageno also released a free version of Brand Overview, which compares a brand with its peers across AI platforms and regions.

The L'Oréal example

Dageno monitored 408,794 AI responses over the past month. Of those, 19,812 mentioned L'Oréal or something in its portfolio. Only 571 named L'Oréal itself. The other 19,241 mentioned only brands such as La Roche-Posay and CeraVe.

Results also differed by platform. L'Oréal's visibility was 25.82% on Google AI Mode but 2.47% on ChatGPT, a gap of more than tenfold. Airbnb looked very different. About 86% of its related responses named Airbnb directly. The lesson is that each company's mix of brands changes what it needs to track.

What it costs

Brand Explorer and Brand Overview are free with registration. No credit card is needed and there is no trial expiration. Teams that want ongoing monitoring can pick paid plans starting at $49 a month.

  • All plans cover nine AI platforms, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode.
  • Coverage spans 86 countries and regions with no extra fee per platform or region.
  • Plan limits count question, platform and region combinations. 20 questions on two platforms in one region is 40.

Dageno lists rivals for comparison. Ahrefs starts at $199 a month, Peec AI Starter is $95, and a comparable OtterlayAI setup is about $248. These are public prices as of October 21, 2026, and features differ by provider.

Who it affects

Any business with more than one brand name should pay attention. If AI tools talk about your products but not your company, tracking only the company name can hide most of your exposure. Businesses with one main brand may see the opposite.

Limits to keep in mind

The findings come from Dageno's own one-month sample and do not represent all AI searches. A mention is not the same as a recommendation, website visits or sales. Mention shares for individual brands in a portfolio may overlap. The L'Oréal and Airbnb figures were published by the company that sells the tool.

The takeaway

Check whether AI chatbots mention your brand and product names, not just your company name, and whether results differ by platform.
