Supply'd, a software maker for food manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, has added AI that reviews supplier invoices, spots mismatches and recommends fixes. The update, called version 5.5, was announced on 28 October 2026. The new tools are all in testing, and the invoice checker is open only to selected customers.

What changed

Version 5.5 expands Supply'd Intelligence, the company's set of AI tools. Supply'd is an ERP platform, which means one system that ties together sales, purchasing, inventory, production, warehousing, quality, delivery and reporting. Three new pieces arrive in this release:

  • Ask Supply'd, a beta assistant that answers questions using your own business data.
  • Expense Agent, a private beta for selected customers that reviews supplier invoices.
  • MCP connectivity, a beta link that lets supported AI assistants reach authorized Supply'd data.

The invoice checker

Expense Agent reviews supplier invoices, investigates discrepancies and recommends corrective actions. Depending on the issue, it can update invoice lines, correct tax details, schedule price changes or request credits. Founder Jason Stockton described the daily problem: an invoice that does not match what was ordered, or a supplier who changes pricing. Each seems small, he said, but together they eat a lot of time.

How much control you keep

Expense Agent actions need approval by default. Businesses can choose to allow automatic approval for some actions as they gain confidence. Ask Supply'd follows existing user permissions and is read-only at first, so it cannot change records. MCP connections are also read-only for now. Writing changes is planned later, behind a control system meant to manage permissions and authorized actions.

Other changes in 5.5

The release also improves expense reconciliation, which is matching what was ordered against what was billed. It adds a sell-by-unit and invoice-by-weight workflow for products such as meat, seafood and cheese. It also brings OAuth sign-in, a common secure login method, to the Supply'd API, which is the connection point for other software.

What is not known yet

The announcement does not give pricing, the number of customers in the Expense Agent beta, or how to join it. It also shares no results on how accurate the invoice checks are. Beta means the tools are still being tested, so early behavior may change.

The takeaway

If you try AI on supplier invoices, keep approvals switched on until you have seen it get the details right.
