First Citizens Bank plans to offer its services through NCR Atleos ATMs inside Target stores. The bank wants to reach more customers. If you bank with First Citizens, that could mean one more place, possibly your local Target, to handle basic banking.
Who is behind the machines
NCR Atleos runs ATMs and other interactive teller machines, which are self-service machines for banking and payments. It split from NCR in late 2023, creating two public companies. The other one, NCR Voyix, sells checkout hardware and related services to restaurants, retailers and other merchants. First Citizens joins other clients of NCR Atleos, including American Express and PayNearMe.
The self-service banking side is doing well. It grew 3% to $2.17 billion over the first nine months of the year. Overall company revenue grew 2% to $3.23 billion.
What is not clear yet
The material does not say which services First Citizens customers will get, how many Target stores will have them, or when they will start. Check with the bank before counting on it.
NCR Atleos is also being sold. In February, the Brink's Company agreed to buy it for about $6.6 billion. Regulators have not approved the deal, and the U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority has said it could limit competition.
The takeawayFirst Citizens customers may get more places to bank at Target ATMs, but the bank has not said which services or when.
