Fast Starlink Wi-Fi is on many flights now, but not yet most

Starlink Wi-Fi is on over 200,000 flights, but most airlines are still mid-rollout. Here is how to check your flight before you book.

Starlink, the satellite internet service from SpaceX, is now on many airline flights, but not on most. Starlink says more than 200,000 flights worldwide already use it. Still, each airline is at a different stage, so the Wi-Fi on your next trip may or may not be the fast kind.

Who is almost there

As of October 2026, only a few airlines have finished. Hawaiian Airlines has Starlink on all of its Airbus planes. Alaska has finished its regional rollout for Horizon Air. ZipAir Tokyo, a Japan Airlines budget carrier with eight planes, finished in May.

Several others are close. SAS says its rollout is 70 percent complete. Tracking sites estimate WestJet at 76 to 83 percent, Air France at 65 percent and Qatar Airways at about 60 percent. Qatar plans to equip all of its 787 jets by the end of 2026. Emirates has more than 50 planes done and adds about 14 a month.

United, Southwest and the rest

United began in May 2025 and is 43 percent done by its own count, with Starlink hardware on over 640 planes. About 48 percent of its daily flights offer it. United expects to finish by the end of 2027. Southwest says all its flights will have Starlink by fall 2027.

American Airlines has no Starlink planes yet. Installs start in early 2027 and will cover its fleet of more than 1,000 planes. KLM plans to start in summer 2027 on intercontinental flights. Delta is skipping Starlink and using Amazon's Leo service, with 500 planes expected by 2028.

How to check your flight

  • United has its own Starlink Wi-Fi tracker web page.
  • Southwest shows a "WiFi Powered by Starlink" note on your trip in its app.
  • Starlink Flights and Stardrift track many airlines, but they are not always current.
  • For Qatar Airways, the plane type helps. Check whether it is a 787.

Limits to know

Some airlines have only equipped certain plane types, so the airline name alone does not settle it. Korean Air lets you filter for flights with Wi-Fi, but it does not say whether that is Starlink or its older service. Korean Air also says Starlink will not work over or into China.

Air Canada has Starlink on only some Jazz Dash 8-400 planes, flying short routes from Toronto's Billy Bishop airport to Montreal and Ottawa. It is unclear whether a wider rollout is planned.

The takeaway

If in-flight Wi-Fi matters to you, check your airline's tracker or app, or a third-party tracker, before you book.
