Google Chrome may soon let you search a web page by exact capitalization. Android Authority reports that the browser's Find in Page tool could get a case-sensitive option, along with smarter ways to move between the results it finds. Both features are still in development.

What changed

Find in Page is the tool that highlights every spot on a page where a word appears. Right now, it does not treat capital letters as a difference. A case-sensitive option would change that. Searching for 'Apple' would match the capitalized word and not 'apple' in lowercase.

Chrome is also testing smarter ways to jump between the matches it finds. The material does not say how this navigation would work.

Who it affects

Anyone who hunts through long pages could notice the difference. That includes people reading contracts or scanning product listings, where a name or a term in capitals can matter. The goal is to reach the right word faster.

What is not known yet

  • Google has not promised a release date.
  • It is unclear how the new result navigation would work.
  • Features in development can change or never ship.

What happens next

For now, nothing changes in your browser. If Google decides to release these upgrades, they would likely show up as updates to Chrome. Until then, Find in Page works as it always has.

The takeaway

Chrome is testing case-sensitive search and better result navigation, but nothing is confirmed and no release date has been given.
