ChatGPT can now build a slide deck for you, and you can present it without leaving the app. OpenAI announced the feature, called ChatGPT Slides, in its October 16 release notes. It is meant to take you from a rough idea to a finished presentation with less manual work.

What it does

You can start from an existing ChatGPT conversation, uploaded files, an outline, or a sample presentation that guides the design. ChatGPT turns that material into an editable deck. It can also generate custom images and help refine the text, visuals and charts.

You can change individual elements yourself or ask ChatGPT to make specific edits. If your company has a look it wants to keep, you can share an existing presentation as a reference. ChatGPT then follows that style and layout, so slides look less like generic AI output.

Working with a team

Slides supports shared editing. You can invite teammates to work on the same deck at the same time and leave shared comments. ChatGPT can then help act on the feedback, rewrite wording, update charts and keep slides consistent.

That could cut down on the usual back and forth of sending files around and merging everyone's changes by hand.

Presenting and exporting

  • Present directly inside ChatGPT.
  • Export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides on the web.
  • On supported desktop setups, open the deck in PowerPoint or Keynote.

Exported content stays editable, so you can keep working in the software you already use.

Who can use it

Not everyone yet. ChatGPT Slides is rolling out to eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users who have Space access. It is not available to every ChatGPT account, so what you see depends on your plan and workspace. The material does not say whether it will reach other plans or what it might cost.

What to check

AI-made slides still need a human review. Verify figures, sources, charts and any factual claims before you present or share a deck. This matters most when the slides hold business or financial information.

It is also not yet clear how well Slides handles complex layouts, keeps formatting intact, or turns rough source material into a clear story. Those points will decide whether it saves real time.

The takeaway

If you have access, try ChatGPT Slides on a draft deck, and check every number and claim before anyone else sees it.
