Apple has opened preorders for its new smart home lineup, led by HomeView, a 7-inch display for the home that costs $299 and ships Nov. 13. The new Apple TV 4K also ships Nov. 13, and the HomePod mini 2 arrives first, on Oct. 30. Major retailers are taking orders now, and their prices and extras differ.
What Apple announced
HomeView is a hub for a connected home. It recognizes people by their faces to personalize Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My. It also controls smart home devices through the Home app. A wall-mounted version is meant for hallways, entryways or kitchens. Both come in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray.
The new Apple TV 4K uses the A19 chip, which Apple says gives up to 50% faster CPU performance and double the graphics performance of the last model. It comes with a new Siri Remote that supports Find My. The HomePod mini 2 adds Siri AI and better audio, and comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight. Paired with the new Apple TV 4K, it supports four-speaker surround sound.
Where prices differ
The gaps are small for most stores, but one stands out. Here is how the three main products compare.
- HomeView: $299 at Apple, Walmart and Adorama. Amazon charges $290 for space gray only. Best Buy and Target charge $300.
- Apple TV 4K: $290 at Amazon and Walmart, $299 at Apple, B&H and Best Buy, $300 at Target, and $329 at Adorama.
- HomePod mini 2: $149 at Apple, Walmart and B&H, $150 at Best Buy and Target, and $169 at Adorama.
Extras and limits
Some stores add perks. Walmart includes five free offers on Apple services with HomeView and the HomePod mini 2. Best Buy adds Apple service trials, including Apple Music and Apple TV, on HomeView, and double rewards on the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2. Target lists only the space gray and rose pink HomeView for now. Expercom shows all three as unavailable but offers a notice when they return.
Security gear and what is unclear
Apple also announced Home security cameras and locks. One example is an LG video doorbell with two cameras, one for visitors and one for packages. It has a built-in spotlight, records up to 2.5K resolution, stores footage through iCloud Plus and works inside the Home app without a separate app or subscription. The material does not give its price or ship date, and it does not say what the wall-mounted HomeView costs. Some products ship later this year or in early 2027.
The takeawayCheck several stores before ordering, since the same Apple device can cost $1 to $30 more depending on where you buy it.
